WHAT IS KINSTRETCH?
Kinstretch, also known as Functional Range Conditioning, is a comprehensive joint training system based on scientific principles and research. It was created by world-renowned movement specialist, Dr. Andreo Spina. The three main training goals when utilizing this system which are all closely interrelated, and acquired simultaneously are mobility development, joint strength, and body control. We want individuals to have greater control over their bodies, and if you increase a person’s capacity to control themselves, they by default have better control over their movements in the tasks they do day to day.
Kinstretch is a movement enhancement system that utilizes strength training concepts to build strength and control at our end ranges of motion in order to create greater mobility. These concepts are more specific to our joints as opposed to traditional strength training which is more focused on our mid-ranges of motion. We want to increase the range of motion in the joint spaces and increase the resiliency of the tissue that surround the joints. Our joints are responsible for creating movement and building strength and resiliency in these areas of our body is crucial because we tend to overcompensate for areas of our body where the joint space is weak. Kinstretch targets many areas of neglect and muscles we tend to ignore in traditional strength training.
Kinstretch is for everyone, young and old. Whether you are just starting your fitness journey, you’re an athlete and want to enhance your performance, you train in martial arts like me and want to deepen your practice, or you simply just want more freedom and flow in your body and want to walk this earth pain free, then mobility training is where you want to start. I love cardio and I love strength training. They are both very important, but I have found that mobility training is the most important of them all. Yes, it can be tough and it may hurt a little bit, but not doing it will will hurt you even more in the long run.
